Postures ... gestures .... the language of dance
There is not a posture or a gesture ~
if ...when... seen, observed, witnessed, glanced at
is not remembered, re-called, felt ~
that does not penetrate, influence, move ... the other~
A gesture of forgiveness... loss...longing... laughter -
inner giggles, remembrances... comfort... if only ~
Every gesture connects, separates ripples ~
In a way ~ more profound than speech
more universal ....
more living .....
Postures .... gestures - are states of living and universal conversations...
Dance! is a live mural of postures & gestures, transitions, convergence ~
Movement becomes hollow - brittle - empty - devoid & meaningless when we forget why? we make this gesture or take this posture ~
..... to me creating choreography is a weaving of meaningful pastures, gestures, transitions and stillness~
I have always made choreography with meaning - In a zone of remembrance - real ... to be ... totally present .... to give ~
I go to a performance, to the symphony waiting... anxious to be touched... to be moved ~
I remember training:
to play my instrument to make the sound and say all the the composer had written in major and minor keys... the feelings, the stories, the song without words -
to move my body to say what the choreographer wanted to share & yet had no words ....
As a choreographer now - I have no words;
my dancers are the textures and tones of my words ~ the conversation I want to have with those who will see my soul ~
